Non-Recurring Road Rides, November and December, 2005

Saturday, November 5, 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., Bradley Palmer State Park, Topsfield, MA (Beg/Int)

I will lead two rides of 2 hours each. The first leaves at 9 a.m., the second at 11:30 a.m. Same park but different routes. There are enough trails to make life interesting. Mostly easy to moderate. Nobody gets lost and will regroup as needed. Ride either or both. Bring food and water and be prepared for weather changes. No ride if raining but will ride in the snow.

Directions:
Meet at main parking lot of Bradley Palmer State Park. From RT. 95 going north in Danvers, take RT.1 north to Ipswich St. (red light bottom of the hill). Right on Ipswich St. for 1 mile, then right on Asbury St. Park is first left. From RT.95 going south, take RT.97 east to RT.1 and follow above directions.

Sunday, Nov. 6, 10:30 a.m. Concord/Hopkinton, NH (Beginner / Novice Ride 10+ miles)

Rain Date: November 21

Please call ahead to confirm that a ride is taking place. This will be an easy, pretty flat ride including some cycling on pavement to get to an old logging RR bed and some trails in the Mast Yards area along the Contoocook River. Newcomers are welcome.

Directions:
Meet at the Broad Cove Road Mast Yard area: FromI93, take exit 15W. Go straight at the first set of lights. At the next set at "T" bear R onto Rt. 3 (not hard right). At next set of lights go straight and enter the L lane. At next set of lights, go L between the bank and the gas station (=Penacook St.). Travel a block to Rumford Street STOP and go straight up the hill. Travel 1.2 mi. to YIELD and go straight onto Little Pond Road for approximately 3 miles where down the hill (at the edge of Penacook Lake) the road becomes Lake View Drive. Travel 1.3 mi. to a fork and bear L = Carter Hill Road. Just after the apple orchard, turn L onto West Parish Road (mountain view ahead on the R…). Travel almost 3 miles and, at Broad Cove Road, bear L. The meeting place is on the R just ahead. Park in the small dirt lot.

Sunday Nov. 12. Topsfield 12:00 Bradley Palmer/Willowdale State Park. (1/ 2 L)

I will send directions. I need at least one person to confirm that he or she is coming. I will sweep a Level 1 easy mountain bike ride on farm roads and easy trails. Distance:approximately 12 miles.

Must-call-ahead to confirm rides. Cue sheets will be on hand for self guiding. Hopefully, two leaders will also be present. Please call to confirm that a ride is taking place because of weather and road conditions, etc.
Newcomers are welcome.

Directions:
Meet at 279 Pleasant Street (formerly the Concord Clinic) almost across from the Concord Hospital. From I93, take Exit 12N (South Main Street); take the second L (Broadway) which immediately winds R; at the signal, go “straight” for Rt.77/Clinton St.; at the signal turn R (Fruit St.); at the next signal, turn L (Pleasant St.); 279 Pleasant St. is on the L just after the hospital. Please park in back of the building.

Sunday, Nov. 20 Tea Room Ride, 11 a.m.  Robinson School in Westford , MA off Rte 225 (2,3-LM-29 or 40)

29 or approx. 40 miles in Westford, Pepperell, Groton , and Hollis.

Directions:
Rt 495 to exit 32 in Westford.  Turn towards Rt 110.  Turn right onto Rt. 110 going towards Littleton.Turn after Restaurant 99 onto Rt. 225.  Drive 2.75 miles and Robinson School is on right.

Friday, Nov. 25, 10:00 a.m., Kingston, NH (2/3 – M/B)

Turkey Shakedown Cruise. Show and go steady road ride of 2 – 3 hours. Nobody gets lost. Will regroup as needed. No ride if raining/snowing.

Directions:
Meet at Kingston Plaza at the junction of RT.125 and RT. 107. Park near the bike shop.

Dec. 21 Christmas Light Ride, 6:30-6:45 PM, 22 Palermo St., Westford, MA (2,3-L-12 or 15+ miles)

Rides around Westford , MA .  12 mile route is rolling; 15 mile route includes hills.  Hybrid or mountain bike may be more appropriate for road conditions. Headlight/tail lights required. Leader is leisurely.

Directions:
Rt 495 W to exit 32.  Turn towards Rt. 110.  On Rt. 110, turn right at light towards Littleton .  Turn right onto Rt. 225 W after Restaurant 99.  Drive approx. 3 miles to Palermo St .  Park on street.
