GSW Seacoast Century, September 22-23, 2012
Our
39th Annual Seacoast Century
On-line registrations for this event closed on August 31, and we are ready for nearly 1,600 riders to have fun! Ride Saturday, Sunday, or both days for the one registration fee. No need to ride in the rain if the other day is nice. Ride the whole Century on Saturday then take a shorter ride on Sunday before heading home – or spend the whole weekend any way you wish. You asked for it, so we are doing it again – one fee covers everything! This is a ride (not a race) hosted by bicyclists for bicyclists, not a charity ride requiring thousands of dollars to be raised. Any profits go to maintain the club, support bicycling advocacy and education via the Bike-Walk Alliance of NH, plus a donation to the League of American Bicyclist’s national bike-ed program.
Event Full -- All Slots Taken -- No Walk-Ins
Our 39th annual Seacoast Century is Sept. 22-23 with headquarters again to be at Hampton Beach State Park (HBSP). Format will be much like our 2011 event with rides of 25, 50, 63, and 100 miles being offered on both Saturday and Sunday. Support services will include snack items, rest stops available about every 25 miles, sag wagon, check-in log, and an event T-shirt. Rides start at 7:00 a.m. (or later if desired – this is not a mass-start ride) with all services terminating at 5:00 p.m.
Please view the route via Maps and Details There are three types of Garmin GPS files for downloading. The route will be marked with red spray chalk arrows on the road. Optional XXL and XXXL event T-shirts were available for an extra $5.00 each if ordered on-line during the registration process. For more information or specific questions, please visit our web site, email GSW-Office@comcast.net, or call 603.898.5479.
Our Century route has been revised this year since the Memorial Bridge connecting Portsmouth NH and Kittery ME is being replaced with the new bridge not expected to be functional until July 2013. We will detour via Dover NH to still reach some of the highlights along the Tri-State Seacoast Century route and have the Fort McClary Picnic Area as our northerly destination and one of the rest stops. Note: Some towns have local ordinances requiring single-file riding at all times – and the laws are enforced! Use common sense and courtesy when cycling. Do not needlessly impede travel on our shared roadways.
Numerous motels and some campgrounds in the area will be glad to accommodate Century participants. Please make your own arrangements for lodging or camping. The GSW assumes no responsibility for lodging plans, agreements, or payments for cyclists attending this event.
